Every civil government over every nation on earth is some form of theocracy ("theocracy" means "God rules"). Secular people may object to the above statement but the fact of universal theocracy is easily proven.
I hasten to point out that even secularism itself is a religion. The U.S. Supreme court has recognized Secular Humanism as a religion that is eligible for tax exempt status. Secularism is a religion that recognizes no god above man. To the secularist, man is god.
A secular government is a theocracy in which man is the god who rules. Secularists are quick to cry "separation of church and state!" It is true that many societies have in fact separated church and state but no society has ever separated religion and state. All nations whether they be mostly Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Shinto, Animist, Christian or Secular Humanist; all have governments that appeal to religion as final arbiter of right and wrong. This governmental appeal to religion may be explicit (as in the case of Iran) or implicit.
In the early 19th century, the famous German philosopher George W.F. Hegel said "Government is god upon the earth." In the late 20th century the sixties generation has taken that a step further by implicitly saying "Self is god upon the earth." Both positions maintain that man is god. The belief that man is god is inherently a religious belief.
Secularism and it evolution origins myth is established and taxpayer funded in all government schools and other institutions in the United States. This is in clear violation of the first amendment to the US constitution. Secularism is the de-facto state religion of the United States. Many accuse Christians of imposing their faith on others. However it is secularism that is being imposed on people at taxpayer expense!
Secularism has become popular as a result of the widespread teaching of Darwinian evolution. Thomas Huxley (1825-1895) in England and Robert Ingersoll (1833-1899) in the United States taught evolution very aggressively through lectures, pamphlets and books. Huxley was called "Darwin's bulldog." These men denied the existence of the creator God. They maintained that humans should direct their affairs apart from God's law and act as their own gods.
Secularism has no sacred writings, no code of law above man's law and no authority above human government. Their appeal is to raw human will and passion. Western Civilization is now largely secularized. The only moral compass is a fading tribal memory of Judeo-Christian morality. As that Judeo-Christian ethic fades away, Western Civilization sinks further into family breakdown, child abuse, child molestation, violence, sexually transmitted diseases and crime.
The West is in desperate need of spiritual renewal and a return to the God of the Bible. Thankfully we see large numbers of people at prayer and we also see the stirrings of revival.

Steps to salvation:
Jesus said "Ye must be born again." (John 3:7)
- Believe that God created you and loves you and sent the Messiah (Messiah is Hebrew for Christ) to redeem you.
- Believe that Jesus the Messiah came in fulfillment of over 300 Bible prophecies to die for you to take upon Himself the penalty for your sins. (Isaiah 53:5-6, John 6:29, Romans 4:5, First Peter 3:18)
- Turn from sin and call on the name of Jesus to receive forgiveness. (Romans 10:13)
- Receive Jesus as Savior and experience the new birth. (John 1:12, Acts 2:38)
- Follow Him as Lord. (John 14:21)
"Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13)
To receive the salvation that Jesus purchased for us at the terrible cost of His suffering and death on our behalf I invite you to pray this simple prayer:
"Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for sending Jesus, the promised Messiah, to die for my sins. I admit that I am a sinner and I ask for your forgiveness on the basis of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I ask you to fill me with your Holy Spirit to empower me to serve you under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, Amen."
If you prayed that prayer in the humble sincerity of your heart then you have received everlasting life, which includes power to live right in this life and entrance into heaven in the afterlife!

APOLOGETIC ARTICLES
Bill Nugent currently writes a series of articles called "Defending the Faith" which, as the title suggests, defend the Christian faith from the many attacks leveled against it in our postmodern world.
